Hello, my name is Cynthia Ward and I have created this website as
a graduate project for my Master's in ESL education. I attend the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and work full-time
as the ESL teacher for Anderson County Schools. I love my job!
I have been in this position going on my fourth year.
I travel to several schools each day interacting on a close basis with teachers and students all the way from preschool
up through high school. It is a job that has a lot of variety and rewards.
In my school district, the phenomenon of newcomer students has been experienced at a smaller
and slower rate than most other districts in our state. I enjoy sharing aspects of second-language acquisition and working
to increase awareness of the issues and challenges facing students for whom English is not the native or first language.
